Welcome!
Thanks for taking time to visit our site!
Whether you're here to learn more about adventure racing or here to find more people to adventure race with, we think you've arrived at a great resource.
Philosophy
There's more to life than adventure racing, but whatever that "more" is can wait for now!
Life is short... Make it an adventure and challenge yourself!!
Goals
When everyone who has visited this site completes at least one adventure race, our work will be done!
Okay, maybe that's not totally realistic; but it doesn't hurt to dream.
We want to get people out there to try their first adventure race... Then their second, their third.... Then we figure they'll be hooked.
If people have questions about adventure racing, we want to help answer those questions.
If people want to get better at adventure racing, we want to help them do so.
Basically, our goals are to do as much as we can to help promote adventure racing, to continue fielding a full range of teams at various races, to continue giving back to the sport and the community, and to have as much fun as we can along the way.
History
Since Ya Mule's inception in 2000, the group has grown significantly in both size and ambition.
From a team of four friends who aspired to "just finish" a race, we've become an organization that has fielded as many as six teams at recent events.
With Madison, WI as our home base, we're very fortunate to be surrounded by a large number of people who love the outdoors and are often looking for new ways to enjoy it.
Once we get this type of person out there, they usually come back for more.
This enthusiasm has led to the increase in members and experience that has allowed us to expand our racing and to begin organizing/directing events.
We've also realized the importance of giving back to the community and often look for opportunities that are in some way related to adventure racing.
Whether it's volunteering for activities or using proceeds from events to contribute to worthy causes, we've found there is no shortage of ways to help out while also creating an increased awareness of adventure racing.
Even though we've experienced strong growth, we think it's only the tip of the iceberg.
Why not join us for the adventure of getting at the rest of that iceberg?!
Oh, and what about the name "Ya Mule"?
Where did that come from??
Well now, we can't really divulge that kind of valuable information too easily!
But we can at least provide a hint...
Take a look at the early years of Event history.
