Thanks for taking time to visit our site!
Whether you're here to learn more about adventure racing, or here to find more people to adventure race with, we think you've arrived at a great resource.
2015 and beyond...
We will not be hosting any events in 2015.
At this time, indications are that the circumstances that prevented us from hosting races in 2014 will continue through 2015.
If you enjoy having a race the first weekend of May the way we did with MASH, we encourage you to check out Elkbones Adventure Racing.
If you enjoy having a race the first weekend of November the way we did with MAFF, we encourage you to check out MBM Sporting Events.
If you're looking for events at other times of the year, please check out the organizations listed on our About A/R page.
What's next for us?
Although it might be easy to assume Ya Mule is done with Adventure Racing, we have not come to that conclusion.
If we see demand after 2015, we can bring things back to life very quickly and resume the type of top quality races that we've become known for.
We will keep this site alive and well for at least another year if 50 people contact us by the end of February 2015.
If not, for the time being, we just assume save the expense and let the site reach its cyber-demise in a few months.
In the meantime, we encourage you to browse Events History from previous years and enjoy race recaps and images.
Many fond memories out there!
It appears Google/Picasa has changed enough so that some of our images links no longer work as intended.
If you run into that problem, try these links to get to images from various events: Albums or Albums-2
Notice anything different?!??
We at Ya Mule are very excited to introduce MBM Sporting Events as the new host organization for MAFF!
Mike Pape, Ben Rolfs, and Matt Brunell are long-time adventure racers who have brought a lot of fun and enthusiasm to the sport.
A couple of years ago they decided to bring that same level of enthusiasm and dedication up a notch and took over as race directors for the long-running Bravado Challenge.
They have brought nothing but continued and growing success to that event, and we have no reason to believe they will not do the same for MAFF.
It has been an absolute thrill and honor for Ya Mule to carry on the tradition of having a fall adventure race in and around Lapham Peak State Park for the past 15+ years.
We wish we could continue, but lives have evolved in a way that will not allow us to host the race at the same level we have over the years.
We are very grateful Mike, Ben, and Matt are taking on this challenge and believe the race could not be in better hands!
To do what we can to help ensure a smooth transition, we have offered to assist MBM Sporting Events in whatever way we can.
It is very possible you'll still see a bit of Ya Mule flavor to MAFF this year, but you'll also notice exciting new changes and improvements brought on by Mike, Ben, and Matt.
Bottom line: the 2014 version of MAFF (now Milwaukee Area Fall Frenzy!) will be a great race and we'd all love to have you out there keeping adventure racing growing in Wisconsin and beyond!

MAFF 2013 Results!
MAFFers, please review the detailed results that can now be found within the 2013 Race History on the Events page.
After reviewing passports again and considering conditions on race day, we've decided to be a little more lenient with regard to answers given for two of the paddling CPs that seemed to cause issues for a significant number of teams.
If you have any questions/concerns regarding the results, please contact Mike before Saturday Nov, 9 at which time results will become final.
MAFF 2013 Results, Recap, Images!
CONGRATULATIONS to all MAFF racers for surviving a very challenging course on a challenging day!
You guys never cease to amaze us with your determination and great attitude!!
Special congrats to Tim, Anna, and Erik of Rib Mountain Racing for being the only team to clear the course, and with just under 8 minutes to spare!
That amazing achievement against stiff competition gained them 1st Place and the title of MAFF Champs!
Detailed results and many many images are being sorted through and you'll see them here in phases over the next few days.
We also have a few items added to our Lost and Found, so be sure to check back there later if you're missing any gear.
Rib Mountain Racing Wins 2013 First Basis Adventure Series!
Rib Mountain Racing's incredible feat of getting all the CPs not only earned them the overall win at MAFF, but also broke the 1st Basis Adventure Series tie they were in with Elkbones coming into the race.
A great day at the office for Rib Mountain, but also for Elkbones and MAD S who kept the pressure on all day long!
As champions, Rib Mountain Racing takes home a cool $1000 to split amongst themselves and spend any way they want.
Elk Bones was in hot pursuit all day at MAFF, but fell just one CP short of the winners in a race just as exciting as 2012.
Race directors Paula Waite (SMAR), Andy McCarthy (SKMC), and Mike Rubens (MAFF) would once again like to thank Doug Pastrich (1st Basis) for all he has done over the years for the sport of adventure racing and for helping us tie these three great Wisconsin races together and keep this series going!

MAFF 2012 Volunteer Thank You!
Normally we place our "thank you" to volunteers in the race recap; but we've been hearing so many good things about how smoothly the race went, how well the volunteers did, and how friendly they were, that we can't wait any longer!
As a result of the heaps of praise being thrown at these rock star volunteers, Ya Mule has decided to invest in rock star transportation for our highly valued crew in order to get them to the next event, and from TA to TA, faster than ever - and in style.

Elk Bones faught valiently all day at MAFF, but fell just short of continuing their streak of being the only team to ever win this race.
An incredible run, and an outstanding year of racing for these guys!
Race directors Paula Waite (SMAR), Andy McCarthy (SKMC), and Mike Rubens (MAFF) would once again like to thank Doug Pastrich (1st Basis) for all he has done over the years for the sport of adventure racing and for helping us tie these three great Wisconsin races together and get this series off the ground!

MASH 12 and MASH 6
Sad news in adventure racing land.
Due to the unfortunate timing of other commitments (some expected, some not), both our race director and multiple key volunteers we will not be in a position to put on our Spring races in 2012.
We fully expect this to be a temporary situation and are already thinking about MASH 2013!
We also fully expect MAFF (our long-running traditional Fall race) will go on as usual and likely be better than ever!!
As luck would have it, our friends to the south are hosting some Spring events and we very much encourage you to try out their race which falls just after when the MASH races would have been.
All the info you need can be found at: Eyes of the World Adventures!
MASH 12 and MASH 6
Since it appears we are not going to have a real winter this year, might as well ramp-up for adventure racing!
Planning and discussion are underway for MASH 6 and MASH 12. Keep an eye out for important updates!
