ADVENTURE DAY 2007 - Gear

In the unlikely event that there is a last minute change this week, team captains will be emailed directly to notify you of the change.

For those new to adventure racing, "Required" items are things you MUST have to take part in this event.
"Recommended" items are things we strongly recommend that you have to either help keep you comfortable and safe during the event, or to help you be more proficient during the event.   It is possible to complete this event if you do not have every single "Recommended" item, but you may regret it if you choose to leave some of these items behind.

Required

• Team:
  - 1 canoe or kayak(s) capable of carrying 2 team members at a time.  If your team cannot secure a canoe/kayak(s), please let us know.
  - 2 paddles (canoe or kayak)
  - 1 compass
  - 1 state park pass (annual or daily) per vehicle brought into park
  - 1 cell phone (and water proof/resistant container for it)
• Individual:
  - clothes appropriate for whatever the weather brings on event day (cold/hot, wet/dry)
  - 1 state trail pass (annual or daily)
  - 1 bike in good working order
  - 1 certified bike helmet
  - 1 Coast Guard rated class III-V life jacket (PFD)
  - water container(s) (eg. CamelBak and/or bike water bottle(s))
  

Recommended

• Team:
  - bike computer
  - tools/parts for basic bike repairs
  - water tight clue sheet holder (eg. map case or heavier grade zip lock bag that can hold 8.5"x11" sheets)
  - extra paddle
  - extra compass
  - cooler/container for food/drink at transition area
  - watch
  - writing utensil
  
• Individual:
  - extra set of clothes (for during event - preferrably not cotton)
  - change of clothes (for after event)
  - protective eyewear
  - separate shoes/socks for paddling that you don't mind getting wet
  - energy bars
  - electrolyte tablets
  - backpack
  - nylon pants/top (or other tight mesh fabric similar to windbreaker material) for bushwhacking
  - gloves for bushwhacking (eg. inexpensive leather work/garden gloves work well).
  - neoprene gloves for paddle (especially if cold on event day)
  - towel
